The world of fashion is an ever changing one, with each season bringing in the latest trends and changes of the moment. Celebrity style is a great place to look for inspiration as, having the money and the prestige at their disposal, A-listers can stay ahead of the fashion pack by getting the latest much loved garments as soon as they leave the catwalk. And this autumn is no different, with celebrities leading the way when it comes to the moment’s latest trends.

As the colder months roll in, the maxi dresses and frills of the summer are waning to be replaced with fashion providing more cover. A big look for the autumn winter season 2011/12 is the Chic In The City look; a style where frills and ruffles are left behind in favour of clean silhouettes, black and white ensembles, and simple looks with only a mere few accessories. The look was highlighted by Zoe Saldana at a French TV appearance where she wore a chic Dolce and Gabbana black and white dress with minimal fuss. Meanwhile, the Versace dress worn by Lea Michele to Hollywood’s Glee Academy screening also showed of the chic style, whilst Leighton Meester pulled off a white crochet skirt and jacket with just a hint of this autumn’s popular colour; tan.

Alongside tan, a strong colour making waves in autumn 2011 is burnt orange. Ideal for both sexes, there have been many celebrities pushing this colour of late, with the hue offering itself in jackets, shirts, dresses and even combinations. Olivia Palermo was spotted in a gorgeous full length gown with a bright flash of burnt orange across the middle, whilst Gwyneth Paltrow seems to have certainly fallen for the colour, having worn a range of formal dresses in the hue. Meanwhile the tone has also turned up in a more subtle style, with Louise Roe sporting a burnt orange jacket and Kate Bosworth combining a midi skirt in the tone with a faux-fur coat to great effect.

Another style to hit the scene this autumn is that of tunics and trousers, with the playsuits of the summer, as worn by Freida Pinto, being replaced with full length trouser tunics. A relaxed and chic outfit, the look is set to be very popular for the season, with Rachel McAdams already showcasing the look in a navy tunic at the premier of Midnight in Paris.

Celebrity watching can be one of the first places that you’ll discover just which catwalk fashions have made their mark and are set to grace the high street. With the ability to get top quality wear as soon as its available, celebrities certainly help influence which styles are hits, and which disappear never to be heard of again. With retailers wanting to capitalise on the latest trends and garments, high street variations are quick to become available. And if you want to get hold of the new season fashions as quickly as you can, New Look is a great place
