Warm Winter Styles for 2011

Popular new designers

Clothing styles and fashions speak volumes about an individual as well describing numerous aspects of their lifestyle. Fashion reflects the person’s approach to life in general along with their attitude and their personality. There are huge brand names that everyone is aware of, but they all started small, eventually carving their way to prominence and success. In the UK, there are a few new arrivals on the scene that the fashion industry is paying a lot of attention to and have recently created their own waves in the industry. Here are just a few:

  • Christopher Bailey – the fashion designer from Burberry who is rapidly becoming a household name. He is making his mark on the fashion industry as the Burberry creative director.
  • John Galliano – born in Gibraltar, he moved to south London as a young boy. His clothing designs reflect a combination of Latin traditional “dress-up” and stylistic eclecticism.
  • Stella McCartney – the fashions she created in her final year at Central Saint Martins was snatched up by numerous big name brand designers such as Browns and Bergdorf Goodman. She recently became the top designer for Chloe.
  • Alexander McQueen – Sadly recently deceased he was apprenticed to Anderson & Sheppard, the Prince of Wales’ tailor, on Savile Row, McQueen grew up as a taxi driver’s son.

Practical fashion and keeping warm

What you want to remember is that there is a distinct relationship between the function and the style of clothing. The different fashions and styles that we see have all arrived on the market as a response to the temperature of the particular season we are in. Obviously, this holds true where winter clothing is concerned. As has been the case in the past, practical fashion for winter involves “layering” so as the day warms up, you can remove these layers in order to remain comfortable yet warm.

During the winter months, it can be difficult to follow current fashion trends and stay warm at the same time. You can brighten up your appearance with certain accessories such as a long, colourful scarf that is long enough so that you can wrap this item 2 to 3 times around your neck. Remember that warmer fabrics such as cashmere or wool never go out of style and are a great way to keep warm in winter. And don’t be afraid to wear thermals occasionally.

Current trends

Just because it is trendy doesn’t mean that it has to be pricey. You can save money on winter clothing fashions by acquiring Boden Discount Codes or Boden Discount Vouchers online. Where the current trends for the winter 2010/2011 season are concerned, it’s all about coats, faux fur, and leather.

Coat trends are leaning towards aviator jackets, capes, military coats, peacoats, and trench coats constructed with faux fur or out of leather. Faux fur has become more popular because it looks like the real thing for a fraction of the cost. Leather clothing for winter will always be popular regardless of price because it is stylish and warm. Remember that it’s all about functionality and practicality.
