PUMA launches InCycle products which are entirely biodegradable or recyclable. The products include the PUMA Track Jacket and the PUMA Backpack, which use homogenous materials to ensure they are fully recyclable at the end of their lifespans. The PUMA Backpack is made of polypropylene which can be broken down to the original substance and used again to make new backpacks. PUMA’s InCycle collection will be available in stores in March 2013 and online at puma.com.

There are plenty of ways you can save on planning a trip ahead of time. You can monitor flight prices, fly on off days, and stay with friends. But once you’re on your way, how can you keep your travel costs down? Here are some ideas:

Pack snacks. This applies whether you are 20 or 50 and whether you’re traveling with a family or alone. Airports are expensive! And they know you rarely have other options. For early morning flights, I used to think nothing of stopping by the airport’s Starbucks for a cup of coffee before boarding my flight. Then I began to realize that I was easily dropping $5 – 7 on breakfast before I even stepped foot on a plane. If you do a little planning ahead, you can save a ton. Hit your grocery store for some snack bars, or you can also pack a refillable water bottle so that you can fill that up once you’re through security.

Skip the checked bag fees. If you are traveling alone or for a short period of time, it’s a no-brainer to pack a carry-on. However, if you have kids or are going a long way, you may not have a choice but to pack some bigger suitcases. There are still ways around those pesky bag fees though. Some airlines, such as Southwest, don’t charge for the first few checked bags. Others allow passengers who have their co-branded credit card to skip the fees. If you have one airline you tend to fly quite a bit, it may be worth looking into that option. The annual fee may be outweighed by the bag fee savings if you fly often enough.

Don’t spend a ton getting to the airport. Depending on what city you live in, just getting to an airport can cost a lot. Why let all of your bargain-hunting on flight prices go to waste by tacking on another $50 to your ticket price via a cab ride or car service? It may be inconvenient, but explore options like public transportation or ask a family member or friend for a ride and offer to return the favor at a later date. Wouldn’t you rather spend that money on a nice dinner out during your trip anyway?
